Cocktail Native is a typical Haitian Cocktail, which gets its particular flavor from clairin, an unrefined rum prepared locally. Since clairin only available on the local market, you can use regular white rum instead.
The taste will be slightly different, as clairin tends to have a stronger aroma and a higher alcohol percentage than its white rum counterpart. It will taste good nonetheless. While it is a strong drink for my taste, I must admit that the sugarcane syrup and lime juice help balance the alcohol level. This cocktail recipe recommends serving it chilled, but I think it would make a great frozen drink.
Ingredients
- 1 part sugarcane syrup
- 2 parts of clairin (I use white rum instead)
- Juice of 1 lime
- Lime slices for decoration
- Ice
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients in a shaker
- Serve chilled.
