L\u2019enfant que j\u2019\u00e9tais peut vous en dire long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les zanmann ont en effet marqu\u00e9 une grande partie de mon enfance et toute mon adolescence. C\u2019\u00e9tait le rendez-vous des cousins qui se r\u00e9unissaient apr\u00e8s les classes dans la maison familiale de nos <a href=\"http:\/\/tchakayiti.com\/home\/fr\/acerola-caribbean-cherries\/\">fameux cerisiers aux fourmis<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un pye zanmann extr\u00eamement fertile rendait effectivement nos passages dans cette cour encore plus amusants. Entre cousins, nous profitions des abondantes productions de cet arbre dont les meilleurs fruits n\u2019\u00e9taient accessibles que du haut de l\u2019arbre et donc du toit de la maison. Les plus intr\u00e9pides d\u2019entre nous, notamment les plus grands qui \u00e9taient autoris\u00e9es \u00e0 le faire, grimpaient souvent l\u2019escalier m\u00e9tallique menant au toit pour se rapprocher des branches regorgeant de fruits. Ils ramenaient des zanmann au reste du groupe qui n\u2019osait escalader ou faire fi des menaces des adultes qui ne les y avaient pas autoris\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces cueillettes \u00e9taient devenues au fil du temps notre \u00ab program du vendredi, \u00bb notre activit\u00e9 pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e du vendredi. Je nous revois encore poches remplies \u00e0 d\u00e9border et jupe d\u2019uniforme repli\u00e9e sur elle-m\u00eame charg\u00e9e des fruits de notre r\u00e9colte qui, tout comme les cerises mentionn\u00e9es plus haut, nous donnait encore l\u2019occasion de faire chanter les adultes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Wouy timoun nou pral tache rad nou, \u00bb \u2013 vous allez vous t\u00e2cher les v\u00eatements, les enfants \u2013 \u00e9tait une rengaine que nous connaissions par ch\u0153ur et \u00e0 laquelle nous pr\u00eations rarement attention, pour ne pas dire jamais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V\u00eatements t\u00e2ch\u00e9s ou pas, notre \u00ab program \u00bb de zanmann agr\u00e9mentait nos apr\u00e8s-midi. Nous nous partagions les fruits dont nous savourions la chair \u00e0 la fois sucr\u00e9e et acidul\u00e9e. Un de nos jeux favoris \u00e9tait d\u2019arriver \u00e0 casser la coque interne du fruit avec nos dents pour pouvoir d\u00e9guster le noyau de ce fruit que nous appelions aussi nannan. Ceux d\u2019entre nous qui avaient des dents de lait plus fragiles s\u2019armaient plut\u00f4t d\u2019une roche qui servait \u00e0 \u00e9craser la coque. C\u2019\u00e9tait un v\u00e9ritable triomphe lorsque nous arrivions \u00e0 extraire le noyau entier car, tout en \u00e9tant bien log\u00e9 dans sa coque, ce dernier ne r\u00e9siste pas facilement aux chocs et est donc vite \u00e9cras\u00e9 ou m\u00eame pulv\u00e9ris\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En \u00e9t\u00e9, lorsque nous passions plus de temps dans cette maison du Canap\u00e9-Vert, nous r\u00e9coltions aussi les zanmann s\u00e9ch\u00e9es pour en extraire les noyaux. Roche en main, nous nous asseyions \u00e0 m\u00eame le sol \u00e0 la recherche de noyaux que nous partagions en quantit\u00e9 \u00e9quitable. Il va sans dire que nous avions aussi d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 l\u2019art de casser la coque au bon endroit pour pr\u00e9server ce nannan ou amande qui est aujourd\u2019hui grill\u00e9 et commercialis\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour ceux d\u2019entre vous qui ne le connaissent pas, zanmann d\u00e9signe chez nous un fruit connu ailleurs sous le nom d\u2019amande tropicale ou d\u2019amande-pays dans les Antilles fran\u00e7aises, fruit qu\u2019il ne faut pas confondre avec les amandes traditionnelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De forme ovale l\u00e9g\u00e8rement aplatie, l\u2019amande tropicale \u00e0 une peau verte comestible qui devient jaune \u00e0 maturit\u00e9. Sous cette peau se cache une couche fibreuse tirant sur le mauve ou le blanc, selon la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de zanmann, qui recouvre une coque coriace semblable au li\u00e8ge.
