Je me pr\u00e9lassais encore dans mon lit ce matin que d\u00e9j\u00e0 une odeur de nourriture all\u00e9chante chatouillait mes narines. Ce que j\u2019identifiai tout de suite comme \u00e9tant \u00e0 base d\u2019un poisson fum\u00e9 sal\u00e9 excita aussit\u00f4t mon app\u00e9tit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De mes draps, je d\u00e9celais effectivement l\u2019odeur et le go\u00fbt d\u2019un arans\u00f2 en sauce (hareng saur en sauce) accompagn\u00e9 de mayi moulen (ma\u00efs moulu ou polenta) aux tomates, repas qui, j\u2019en \u00e9tait certaine, serait servi avec un bon zab\u00e8lb\u00f2k<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce festin aurait pu \u00eatre concoct\u00e9 dans notre cuisine, mais je savais que ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas le cas. L\u2019heure \u00e9tait trop matinale; nous ne pr\u00e9parons pas la nourriture du jour de si t\u00f4t chez nous. Je le savais, mais je ne pouvais me retenir de souhaiter qu\u2019il en soit autrement et m\u00eame d\u2019envier ce voisin et ses convives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cependant, un sourire se dessina malgr\u00e9 moi sur mes l\u00e8vres. J\u2019imaginais aussi que, sans le vouloir, un voisin m\u2019avait invit\u00e9 \u00e0 son repas familial. Mon esprit vagabonda \u00e0 un point tel que je me mis \u00e0 penser au fait que, de ma chambre, j\u2019arrivais \u00e0 espionner sa cuisine et \u00e0 savoir ce qui s\u2019y mijotait, une id\u00e9e qui, aussi dr\u00f4le que cela puisse para\u00eetre, me r\u00e9conforta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfouie sous mes couettes, je d\u00e9gustais par mon odorat ce mayi ak arans\u00f2 ! Je devinais m\u00eame son assaisonnement qui incluait certainement de la p\u00e2te de tomate et un bouillon cube \u2013 ingr\u00e9dients contest\u00e9s mais malheureusement tr\u00e8s pris\u00e9s de nos cuisini\u00e8res locales. Comme vous le devinez, je profitais pleinement de cette exp\u00e9rience olfactive tr\u00e8s typique de chez nous !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nos maisons \u00e9tant plut\u00f4t ouvertes, l\u2019air frais, les ar\u00f4mes d\u2019\u00e9pices \u00e9cras\u00e9es au pilon<\/a> dans notre maison et m\u00eame les concoctions du voisin, en t\u00e9moigne cette exp\u00e9rience, p\u00e9n\u00e8trent par toutes les ouvertures. Au d\u00e9tour d\u2019un chemin on arrive m\u00eame \u00e0 identifier les plats mijotant sur un feu, exp\u00e9rience que j\u2019ai v\u00e9cue lors d\u2019une de nos marches dans les hauteurs de Fort-Jacques il y a quelques mois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une agr\u00e9able odeur vanill\u00e9e avait agr\u00e9ment\u00e9 notre marche ce jour-l\u00e0. L\u2019odeur \u00e9tait si forte que ma m\u00e8re et moi avions pris le temps d\u2019essayer d\u2019identifier le plat en question pour conclure qu\u2019il s\u2019agissait certainement d\u2019une bouillie, bouillie qui me donna imm\u00e9diatement faim. Tout comme ce matin, mes papilles voulaient \u00e0 tout prix go\u00fbter \u00e0 ce plat sucr\u00e9, et je r\u00eavais d\u2019\u00eatre pr\u00e9sente lorsqu\u2019on en verserait le contenu dans des bols individuels !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A y penser, je ne peux que conclure que le fait d\u2019arriver sans faire expr\u00e8s \u00e0 \u00ab go\u00fbter \u00bb au repas d\u2019un voisin est tout de m\u00eame une exp\u00e9rience particuli\u00e8re difficile \u00e0 \u00e9viter chez nous. On s\u2019invite souvent, malgr\u00e9 nous, aux festins de tout un quartier !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
