Je fus \u00e9tonn\u00e9e d\u2019en trouver dans notre cour parce que jamais je n\u2019aurais imagin\u00e9 voir des plantules de ce l\u00e9gume chez nous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u2019ai grandi entour\u00e9e de plantations de l\u00e9gumes que je d\u00e9cris si bien dans <a href=\"http:\/\/tchakayiti.com\/home\/fr\/embracing-life-in-the-mountains\/\">mon article parlant de nos sommets fertiles<\/a>. Les choux ont toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019une des semences que les abitan de la zone semblaient privil\u00e9gier, ce qui se comprend vu que la temp\u00e9rature plus fraiche dans les hauteurs est propice \u00e0 leur croissance abondante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourtant, bien que nous plantions souvent des l\u00e9gumes dans notre potager, nous avons toujours \u00e9vit\u00e9 les choux. Je crois bien qu\u2019\u00e0 lui seul, le jardin des voisins d\u2019\u00e0 cot\u00e9 suffisait pour nous dissuader d\u2019en planter chez nous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pendant longtemps, nous avons volontairement choisir d\u2019admirer de loin le beau tableau que dessine une plantation de choux au lieu d\u2019en introduire dans notre cour. Une plantation de choux est agr\u00e9able \u00e0 voir, je n\u2019en disconviens pas, cependant notre maisonn\u00e9e n\u2019aime pas autant le parfum qui s\u2019en d\u00e9gage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En effet, on n\u2019a pas besoin de voir une t\u00eate de chou sortant du sol pour savoir qu\u2019une plantation est aux alentours. Ce l\u00e9gume lui m\u00eame est jouda, comme nous le disons si bien chez nous. Impossible de le cacher. Au moment de la r\u00e9colte, le parfum qui s\u2019en d\u00e9gage est encore plus fort. Il se r\u00e9pand dans tout un quartier qu\u2019il y ait brise ou pas en faisant picoter les narines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Humm, \u00e7a sent le chou \u00bb est une phrase que se r\u00e9p\u00e9tait souvent chez moi au moment de la r\u00e9colte de choux dans notre quartier. L\u2019odeur qui p\u00e9n\u00e9trait la maison n\u2019enchantait pas toujours. Celui qui pronon\u00e7ait ces mots le faisait donc avec un ton et un regard qui en disaient long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est pourquoi j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 si surprise de voir des choux poussant dans notre cour. Je dois cependant admettre que je comprends pourquoi nous avons mis nos id\u00e9es pr\u00e9con\u00e7ues de c\u00f4t\u00e9 et les avons plant\u00e9s. Le chou est un ingr\u00e9dient populaire dans notre cuisine ha\u00eftienne. C\u2019est donc un avantage de pouvoir en planter chez soi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nombreuses sont en effet les recettes locales utilisant ce l\u00e9gume. Le chou est l\u2019un des ingr\u00e9dients les plus importants de notre fameux <a href=\"http:\/\/tchakayiti.com\/home\/fr\/haitian-pikliz-recipe\/\">pikliz<\/a> apr\u00e8s le piman bouc, par exemple. Nous l\u2019utilisons pour agr\u00e9menter et donner une texture \u00e0 notre fameux <a href=\"http:\/\/tchakayiti.com\/home\/fr\/haitian-touffe-legume\/\">touffe legume<\/a> et le chou se retrouve aussi dans notre choucroute qui se sert assez souvent lors des grands diners. Je ne cite ici bien s\u00fbr que quelques-unes des nombreuses pr\u00e9parations \u00e0 base de ce l\u00e9gume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vous comprenez donc, qu\u2019en d\u00e9pit de notre d\u00e9gout pour le parfum de ce l\u00e9gume, nous l\u2019ayons finalement plant\u00e9 chez nous. Une plantation de choux n\u2019est pas seulement impressionnante, c\u2019est un atout.
